“You know its a good movie, when you leave the theatre with a smile on your face.” If that’s how you define a good or a paisa vasool movie, S/o SatyaMurthy is one such movie. Allu Arjun continues his hit streak with this family entertainer that sees him take his style quotient to new levels. We wouldn’t say that this is Bunny’s best performance so far, but he does a good job as a dutiful son who wants to protect his father’s fame driven by values.
While the script is not completely novel, with some predictable scenes and flow of the movie, it has been well supported by Rao Ramesh and Rajendra Prasad. Samantha also does her bit as Allu Arjun’s love interest. Nithya Menon does justice to her role (though it is smaller than her size). The third heroine Adah Sharma is wasted.
The movie has Trivikram’s stamp with crisp dialouges but lack of comedy in the first half can disappoint the audience. Brahmanandam gives the much needed comic relief in the second half of the movie.
The surprise package of the movie is Upendra who plays the antagonist in the movie. The audience reaction has been incredibly cheerful and loud to say the least. His screen presence adds to the grandiose of the movie. Sneha makes a cute comeback as Upendra’s wife in the movie.
While Devi Sri Prasad’s music has been normal to say, he makes up for it by a tremendous background score.
The Plot:
Viraj Anand (Allu Arjun) is born in a rich family and has everything that he wanted in life. Just when things start looking rosy, he gets a call from his home about his Dad’s (Prakash Raj’s) sudden death in an accident. In a matter of days, he loses everything that he has and comes to a stage where he needs to struggle to make ends meet for his family. Enter Sameera (Sumantha Ruth Prabhu) who falls in love with Viraj for his values and the sacrifices he has made to live up to them.
Just as Viraj thinks that he is readily solving the problems and settling down, his marriage proposal with Sameera poses a new problem. A problem that is around 2 acres of land worth 50 crores, a problem that will have Viraj fight a leader of 25 villages, a problem that can cost his life and his Dad’s fame (that he values the most in life).
If you are a Dad, this is one movie you would want to watch to make sure you understand your role in building values in your kids and the possible impact of them. If you are a son or a daughter, this is one movie that you should watch to understand the value of a ‘Dad’ and the values he drives.
Pros:
Neatly etched roles of Allu Arjun, Samantha, Rajendra Prasad
Background score.
Trademark Trivikram Dialogues
Styling of Allu Arjun by Ashwin
Editing effects by Prawin Pudi
Cons:
Its a predictable plot.
The first half of the movie seems like a drag.
Bunny’s dance moves keep asking the audience for more.
Devi Sri Prasad’s music lack lyrical support.
Highlights:
Upendra’s screen presence
Brahmanandam’s comedy scenes are carefully done to make sure he brings the comic relief.
‘Come to the party Subbalakshmi’ and ‘Super Machi’ songs get the front benchers jumping.
Allmegaheros Rating: 3.25/5
