Versatile actress Vidya Balan has turned southward. After creating ripples in Bollywood, Vidya is moving down south. If the latest grapevine is to be believed then Vidya Balan has been roped in to play superstar Rajinikanth’s ladylove in director P Ranjith’s next movie. It is learnt that the director has approached the ‘Ishqiya’ actress to play the lead actress in the untitled film.
Rajinikanth had earlier worked with Bollywood beauties like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Sonakshi Sinha and now Vidya got the chance to be paired opposite Rajini. It was reported previously that the movie will not have female lead but later there has been a change.
A source close to the film said,” Talks are on with Vidya Balan. The makers have been negotiating with her for a while now, but the actress is yet to give her nod. She is definitely among the leading ladies who have been approached for this role.”
Many years ago, Vidya was abruptly dropped off a Tamil film after she has shot few scenes and since then she has been away from the Tamil Cinema but she did not wipe away the possibility to act in a regional film if any interesting offer comes her way.
The film which will be shot in only 120 days will see Rajinikanth in the role of an aged don. The movie will go on floor in August in Malaysia. It ill be produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu and the film will be written and directed by Ranjith of ‘Madras’ and ‘Attakathi’ fame.
The music will be composed Santosh Narayanan while Murali G will handle the camera work on the movie.

The film will be shot in Thailand, Hong Kong and Chennai. The other casting of the film is in progress.
