Rakul replaces Samantha in Charan's film

Rakul Preet Singh is on a roll these days. After recently bagging a plum project opposite NTR, the latest we hear is that the actress will now romance Ram Charan. Buzz is that the petite actress will be the leading lady in Ram Charan's next film directed by Sreenu Vaitla. Rakul has replaced Samantha, who has been initially roped in as the lead actress. 

A source close to the unit says, "Samantha liked the script very much and she was all game to be part of the project. However, things took a different due to contrasting perceptions. Wasting no time, the makers have immediately replaced Samantha with Rakul Preet in the project." 

Buzz is that the filmmakers opted for a replacement for Samantha due to budgetary reasons. Sreenu Vaitla is directing the film written by Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan. 

Interestingly, the filmmakers initially wanted to cast Shruti Haasan in the film, but the proposal fell through due to non-availability of Shruti's dates.
