Exceptional In Urban, Decent In Rural

With no big competition at the box office, Nagarjuna's Oopiri is doing good business in its second week. The Vamsi Paidipally directorial has collected a share of Rs 35 crores, including Tamil version Thozha for 10 days worldwide. While the movie is exceptional in urban centers, it is decent in rural zones.

In fact, this is the third biggest grosser in Nagarjuna's career after Soggade Chinni Nayana and Manam. While SCN collected a share close to 50 crores, Manam closing business was 37 crores. Absolutely, Nagarjuna is the only Telugu senior hero to have three 30 crore share films.

Nagarjuna hasn't restricted himself to do only commercial entertainers. As a matter of fact, his sons Naga Chaitanya, Akhil and wife Amala requested him not to accept Oopiri since it was not a commercial subject and it would be tough task for Nagarjuna to portray the role of a quadriplegic bound to a wheelchair.

To everyone's surprise, Oopiri opened well, and it has managed to cross 30 crores mark in 10 days. However, the film is not up to the range of SCN, the mass masala entertainer that captivated all section of audiences and raked Rs 50 crores.
