When the whole World is heaping praises on SS Rajamouli & Team Baahubali for matching up to the Hollywood standards, One Individual feels the epic action drama is good for nothing and doesn't deserve a National honour at all.
Punjabi filmmaker Gurvinder Singh ridiculed the National Awards Jury for picking up 'Baahubali - The Beginning' as the Best Film. 'Baahubali is total crap and probably the worst film ever to receive a National Award…That too in the Best Film category. Its just a BJP Award, not a National Award. All the major awards have been bagged by commercial films and art films have been neglected completely. Not just me, Everyone isn't happy with the choices,' conveys the Director.
'Baahubali' is the only Regional Film to have bagged a National Award in major categories, Whereas rest of them have gone to Bollywood. Still, Mr. Singh feels the Rajamouli's directorial shouldn't have got the honour. At the same time, He complains Regional Cinema didn't receive due recognition in the 63rd National Awards presentation. Hopefully, The Filmmaker realizes one day that making a commercial film, acceptable to majority of the movie buffs, is much tougher than an art film appreciated by critics.
Notably, Gurvinder Singh's feature film 'Chauthi Koot' bagged National Award for Best Punjabi Film.
