The Supreme Court of India has said that Mohan Babu can keep is Padma Shri and that the coveted award will not be taken back by the government. It is well known that Andhra Pradesh High Court had long back ordered the authorities to take back Mohan Babu's Padma Shri following allegations of dishonoring the award.
During the release of Vihsnu's Denikaina Ready, several cases were filed on Mohan Babu for adding the 'Padma Shri' title along with his name in the film's credits. After a series of hearings, the High Court passed the judgement to cancel the honor bestowed upon the senior actor. Mohan Babu then challenged HC's ruling in the Apex Court.
In his counter petition, Mohan Babu stated that the film's producer had credited him as Padma Shri Mohan Babu without his knowledge. Mohan Babu also stated that he will not dishonor the award in the future and that he may be permitted to keep the award. Following the hearings, the Supreme Court has nullified High Court's orders.
