Oopiri Needs Some Oxygen Now

After two back to back blockbusters of Manam and Soggade Chinni Nayana, Nagarjuna's Oopiri released on March 25 to ultra positive response from critics and audiences alike. The film is still doing fairly good in multiplexes and A & B centres.

Thanks to the hype and Nag's recent track record, Oopiri fetched superb prices from its distributors and the film's producer PVP sold the film for a whopping 43 crores worldwide. Oopiri has done a phenomenal first week business and its worldwide theatrical share will be close to 26 crores so far.

This means that the distributors are still halfway through in getting their investments back. Oopiri still needs 17 plus crores to break even and to make its makers and distributors heave a huge sigh of relief.

However, with Sardaar Gabbar Singh releasing on the 8th and IPL season kicking in from the 9th, Oopiri surely needs a lot more oxygen to swim through the tide. Or, will the film end up as yet another proud classic that failed to rake in the moolah?
