10 reasons why you should not miss S S Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’

S S Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘Baahubali’ released today (July 10) and being hailed as India’s most expensive film made till date, the anticipation for the movie is on an all-time high too. We give you 10 reasons to flock into the theatres and savour the ‘Baahubali’ magic.


1. Records:
When it comes to SS Rajamouli’s forthcoming ‘Baahubali’, looks like everything is of epic size – right from the sets, to the muscled actors and now even the film poster. The ‘Baahubali’ team has successfully broken the Guiness World record for the largest poster of 50,000 sq ft.

2. The Indian ‘Avatar':
When Rana Daggubati showed some scenes from the movie to Karan Johar, he said, “It looks like an Indian Avatar.” And rightly so, the imagery of ‘Baahubali’ takes its enormity a notch higher.

 3. The budget: 
Having been made at a whopping budget of Rs 250 cr, ‘Baahubali’ took as much as two-year long time for the VFX to get desgined. Now if S S Rajamouli has spent such time, energy and moolah on the movie, it surely calls for a watch. 

4. Period drama: 
‘Baahubali’ is a period drama, and going by the concept, the movie has costumes, jewellery, fight sequences and weapons akin to the ones used in the pre-historic era. Even the sets that are created and recreated speak of the hugeness and epicness of the movie. 

5. Merger of Bollywood and Regional cinema: 
The fact that the Hindi version of the movie is being presented by filmmaker Karan Johar and Dharma Productions adds to the grandeur. This is for the first time that a regional movie is getting this space in Bollywood and hence, it surely serves as a merger between the two worlds of cinema. 

6. Similarities with ‘300’: 
The trailer definitely piqued our interest, however, one can’t help but notice that many of the scenes were similar to Hollywood’s ‘300’. 

7. The mythology:
 ‘Baahubali’ tells the story of two brothers in war with each other – Amarendra Baahubali and Bhallavadeva. At the Hindi trailer release of this movie, S S Rajamouli had told the media of how the epics, Mahabharata and Ramayana, had had a deep and lasting impression on him and how Baahubali was inspired by Mahabharata.

8. The cast and crew:
South stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah feature in this project. The movie is directed by S S Rajamouli. These names only bring enough to the table to lure the audiences into the theatres.
9. Appreciation: 
The Hindi theatrical version of the film has received appreciation from veterans likeAmitabh Bachchan.

10. Worldwide release:
Baahubali has released in 4,000 plus theatres worldwide and it is just the beginning- film’s sequel is also likely to hit the screens in mid-2016.
