TS B’Day gift: 25000 jobs bonanza

The Telangana State which completed one year on Tuesday announced that it would be going in for massive recruitment drive of 25,000 jobs soon. Addressing the main official celebration of the Telangana Formation Day at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Tuesday, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said the notification for the government jobs would be issued next month. 

He also assured the contract employees that the process of regularisation would begin in July and by the end of the year it would be completed. Referring to the Palamur Lift Irrigation Scheme which is estimated to cost Rs 35,000 crore, he said the works would commence soon. Similarly, the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation scheme which is estimated to cost Rs 30,000 crore will be completed on priority basis. 
As part of reengineering strategy, the Telangana government made slight modifications to Pranahita-Chevella project so that the project does not get mired in any conflict with Maharashtra. Commenting on the much-talked about 2-bedroom housing scheme, Rao said that his government would construct 50,000 houses (each unit to cost Rs 5.04 lakh) in the next one year with a budget of Rs 2,500 crore. 

To address problems of the police department, Rao said that the DGP has been told to appoint a committee to study and give recommendations to the government. KCR reiterated his government's commitment to provide 12 per cent reservations for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes. He said that the State Government had already constituted separate committees and the process to give reservations would be initiated after the committees submitted their reports.  

KCR claimed that his government has proved the propaganda wrong which claimed that Telangana would face energy crisis after bifurcation. He said that the government has decided to generate 21,000 mw by spending Rs. 91,000 crore. By 2018, Telangana would be an energy surplus State. Besides providing 24x7 power supply to all consumers, especially industries, Telangana will be able to sell excess power to other States. 

In his brief ten minute speech Rao made a mention of various schemes introduced by his government in the last one year including Aasara pensions, increasing rice quota under PDS, supply of super fine rice to students of welfare hostels, Shaadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi, 43 per cent fitment given to the state government staff and 44 per cent fitment to the RTC employees. He also made a mention of flagship schemes-Mission Kakatiya and Haritha Haaram.
