Even before its release, the film is showing all signs of becoming a blockbuster hit abroad
SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, made at a whopping budget of Rs 250 crores, is currently the most looked forward film of the year. The first part for the magnum opus, Baahubali: The Beginning, which is set to release on July 10, has fetched Rs 9 crores after selling the overseas rights.
Well if you thought that the amount spent to buy the overseas rights is humongous, then let me tell you that the buyers have already made a profit of Rs 3 crore over it by selling it various regional distributors, exhibitors and third parties. The film starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah, needs to earn at least 2.4 million dollars to break even in US box office. It is to be noted that no Telugu film has ever grossed over 2 million in US.
But going by the kind of fan frenzy surrounding the film, Baahubali expected to rake Rs 3 crore or more in US box office alone. Looks like Baahubali is one course to become the highest grossing Telugu flick overseas.
