Karan Johar, the hotshot filmmaker has now become a well known figure to Telugu audiences after he owned the Hindi version's distribution rights of Baahubali. Karan was earlier popular for his films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, My Name Is Khan and even for several of his high budget productions like Agneepath, Shuddi and Student Of The Year etc.

Yesterday, Karan's home banner Dharma Productions has struck a mind-boggling 500 crore deal with Fox Star Studios in which he will jointly produce and distribute 9 films in a span of three years. Fox Star Studios is a joint venture between Star India and leading Hollywood Studio, 20th Century Fox.

Calling the deal 'a visionary 9 films alliance', Karan said that this association will understand the cinematic need of the hour and reflects the present times. This 500 crore deal is by far the biggest ever film co-production deal by an Indian production house with a Hollywood studio.
